I have just discovered lots of dark scale like creatures on the stems of my redcurrent cordons 

Have I got a problem and what should i do?

I have attached two photos. One of the scale like creatures and one of some exploding white things which I discovered when taking the first photo 

Any help at identifying would be most welcome

Scale - winter wash. I don't suppose it would hurt to give them a blast with whatever you like to spray aphids with now though. The white stuff - the only thing close I can find in "the fruit expert" is cane spot, and you really dont want that.

I have just found out what the exploding white things are; redcurrant sale insect egg sacks 

What do I do with them

For the first time ever I've had these on my redcurrant.  I didn't know what they were, but they looked like nothing good, so I squished them, white fluffy bits and all.
