what to grow after narcissi
« on: April 30, 2017, 15:52 »
die back?
They look really lovely atm but I'm aware that there will be a bare patch when the leaves are finally gone. There is a pink rose to one side and a white/pale pink early Biokovo geranium on the other.

Can I perhaps sow some annuals there, or plant some plugs between? give us a clue  :D

I've got a tray of blue eyed grass babies, would they work?

I've got some modules of stuff on standby for planting when bulbs die back - some annuals, some perennials. Californian poppies, cosmos, calendula, verbena, dianthus, linaria and aquilegia so far.  I find plugs of hardy annuals are easy to plant into an existing bed, rather than try and get the soil cultivated for seed germination in areas where bulbs are still doing their thing.

If you want bedding plants, how about something pretty and fragrant like nemesia.  It blends in well with perennial plants and seems to grow to fill in any gaps it finds  :)

Thanks! I took some Dad's Favourite cuttings (pinks) they're still in modules and some  mixed cosmos (just germinated) so it looks as if I already have it covered (pardon the pun  :D)

Nemesias also look a pretty option, given me something else to think about
