bush tomato
« on: February 15, 2017, 14:06 »
Hi all.
I've been given some Real Seed "Grushovka" tall bush tomato seeds (large, egg-shaped, red flesh, pink skin) and wondered if anyone has tried them?
I don't tend to grow the bush types anymore because I always get blossom end rot and they grow TOO tall and bushy.
Is it worth a punt?

I always find that bush plants are shorter than the cordon varieties grown up a cane

I grew Grushovka last year (seeds http://www.realseeds.co.uk/tomatoes_bush.html) and it grew to about 3ft and had a lot of branches, and fruit. I wasn't that impressed with the taste, I prefer more acidic tomatoes to eat fresh.

Thanks Mum
I suppose better for passata and stuff but I don't really need it!!! I prefer to freeze up a mix of chopped tasty toms for cooking.
