Globe Artichoke variety
« on: June 09, 2016, 12:08 »
Hi chaps, I have a globe artichoke (see pic) however it doesn't LOOK like the ones I normally buy which have much smoother 'leaves' on the 'globes' - is my one still edible or is it decorative ?

Many thanks

Roger

That looks more like a cardoon than a GA. If it is a GA it's not a good variety for eating, with fruit that spikey.

I'm sure I bought a GA ... anyway it's a pretty, though big, plant and my wife can use a few for flower arranging and I'll dig it out in the winter and put in an edible one !
