Found this yesterday living in the soil in south devon, it's the second I have seen in two weeks, seems early or is it normal ?

I love my allotment,from my head, tomatoes

some caterpillars (ones that hatched late in summer/autumn) just go dormant in autumn/winter and then come out to feast in spring.

Yes they do! It looks a bit like a bright green wireworm doesn't it?

Digging my allotment raised beds, I've found quite a few caterpillars in the ground. I don't think its unusual, hibernating moths I think.

They wlll be your friends for ever if you can feed them such delicious goodies as that! The ones on our site adore wireworms etc and always come running
