Don't bother - just cut a ripe tomato in half, then grate the cut side on a box grater.  The skin prevents you grating your fingers, and all the tom flesh just falls away.  SO easy and much quicker than messing about dipping toms into boiling water and waiting to cool down before peeling etc.

Maybe, but you loose all texture - so it depends what you're using the toms for IMO
