Thinning baby-type beetroots
« on: August 04, 2015, 12:15 »
I sowed two rows of baby-type beetroot in April and only got about 6 plants so sowed another three rows in late June which seemed to have all germinated! Should I pinch out some individual clumps to allow the rest to grow better, and will the remainder "push" themselves outwards as they grow to give a decent crop?
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

The roots will need room to swell so pinching out will most likely be necessary, otherwise there will be no room for them to grow.

I'd suggest thinning them. 'Pushing' will occur, but size and growth rate will be adversely affected.
