Dolmades

Anyone ever made dolmades with fresh vine leaves? I guess most recipes would specifiy tinned vine leaves in brine.

Do you maybe have to blanch fresh leaves first?
Growing salad leaves isn't rocket science.

From my Greek recipe 'favourites'  :D

If using fresh vine leaves, wash them thoroughly, remove the stems and blanch them in boiling hot water. Remove the leaves with a slotted spoon and place them in a colander to cool down completely.

I've used cabbage leaves before now  ;)

I do as my Greek friend taught me which is almost the same as MOS but I refresh and cool in iced water, dry them off and pack them in 10s and freeze.

If Mary has done  a load from her vine she passes some on to me ready for the freezer. :D

This is what I do too.
The plot next door to mine had a huge vine and I was allowed as many leaves as I liked.
Unfortunately it's been dug up by the new plot holder now.

Really need a vine of my own :)
