Having said the predators weren't doing much, I've been out in the garden today and collected 20 Harlequin Beetle larvae and moved them into the greenhouse on the plants. Its good to see them doing their job!

Likewise here. I've never had aphids on my tomato plants before, but this year I've had black fly, green fly and some horrid reddish bugs, like fat green fly. I've been going out and squishing them by hand on a regular basis and it seems that between me, the spiders and the odd wasp, plus the very heavy rain we've had this last week, they might be on the wane (fingers crossed).

2 BB patches, the early planted ones succumbed to Blackfly very early and I've soapy sprayed and fire hose squirted for the last 2 or 3 weeks and finally tonight, came to the early BB's and I think they may be fewer.... perhaps they are of course just coming onto the other plot BB's!

Thankfully all the aphids are on the dock at the moment, so the dock stays for the moment. I've got a lot of nasturtiums, so hopefully, they'll get attacked before anything else.

We have woolly aphids on the apple tree for the first time too.  What do we feed the birds for, if they cant keep their perching trees clear of bugs?  Honestly, I have had words with those blue tits!   There is supposed to be a quid pro quo going on here ......  ::) :)
