Spaghetti squash

Thought would try these this year as really liked sound of them.
First lot sown ages ago rotted in pots. Second sowing few weeks ago and still no show.
Poked in one of the pots today and seed is just sat there no different to when I put it in  ;)
Everything else is ready to plant, butternut squash, courgettes and pumpkins.
Chitted my sweetcorn and parsnips very successfully and wondered if could do anything different or just duff seeds?

Have the seeds got a corky layer on the outside? - try pricking it off with a needle before sowing. It seems to let the seed germinate easier.
