Is there a trick in sowing seeds evenly on the plot - I'm thinking of the very fine ones which are almost like dust !

Mixing the seed with some slightly damp sand helps to make sure it's more evenly distributed when sowing (the dampness helps stop the seed blowing away if it's windy, but don't put any unsown seed/sand back in the packet!)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

I sprinkle a pinch in each cell in a module tray and then prick/plant them out as a lump.  You can thin them as you go along.

Most things I start off at home, except parsnips which I tend to put a load of seeds at each station and thin, and carrots and radish which I spend a bit of time making sure have good spacing. The radish are fine, they're pretty big. Carrots are a bit harder, I tried home made seed tape this year but got very patchy germination, not sure if that's the seeds or the seed tape idea. Might try pelleted seed next year.
