Hi again. I've been chitting some corn seeds for a few days in a cupboard, had to go away with work for 48 hours and in that time the seeds sprouted, then the kitchen paper they were chitting on dried out! So they look a bit shrivelled  Will they revive if I wet the paper or should I just get more seeds? Am I late chitting lol?

Try wetting the paper....you never know!

I don't think you are very late chitting.  I have only just finished doing mine last week.  Sweetcorn doesn't do well in cold and wind, which is what we have round here at the moment.  They grow quite quickly. 

Mine are in paper pots by the window in a spare bedroom at the moment and are about 2 inches high.  They normally race away from now on.  I think I will be hardening them off outside during the day in about 14 days time then planting out the first week in June.

You could try rehydrating them, but the newly emerging roots are so delicate I'd be surprised if they recovered - they need to be sown immediately after they first appear.

Only started chitting mine yesterday (in a plastic box with the lid on - as AnneB says they hate the cold, but race away if the conditions are right.)

I've only just started mine too.

If it was me, I'd write them off to experience and start again.  It is heart breaking hoping and trying to revive things .... I am speaking from painful experience.

Thanks everyone. I binned the original seeds and am chitting some fresh Lark sweetcorn seeds now. Will remember to check them every day lol!
