I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Annen, just a thought, we didn't like re-painting our cedar one as I was up a ladder and spreadeagled across all the glass roof for ages, and it's not a pretty sight, and definitely not safe, especially if you're an ageing Growster...

Yup, the aluminium alternative is nowhere as good looking, but it has clean lines, it was easy to put up and it's a result for us these days, and we know it will see us out comfortably!

Mmm, that is certainly a consideration.  I sometimes think it would be easier to move house and find one with more garden space, except I would have to drag OH out kicking and screaming....
I know what! It goes against the grain, but I could PAY somebody to oil it now and then!

You could indeed, Annen!

But please consider the structural consequences of the ground beams rotting and (what happened to us), causing the old thing to bend around and eventually become unstable! It was on such sturdy wooden beams when we built it, but they were totally shot at the endgame, and I pulled them out in handfuls of dust!

Don't get me wrong, we just yearned for our cedar greenhouse for years! It was top of our list, and we loved it and loved working in it,  but after fifteen years it was just not going to survive much longer...

Tell you what, Newcastle's not that far away, just pop by for a cup of tea and we'll show you what we've done!
