Anyone growing them to eat?  I love hostas in my garden but I've noticed a fairly large patch of hostas on the new allotment.  Having googled it I would this https://scottishforestgarden.wordpress.com/2012/05/07/hostas/ and they look pretty nice

I do absolutely love finding new things as we clear the allotment.  Today found a new patch of strawberries hidden under our cardboard which are doing suprisingly well given the lack of sunlight , also 2 aspargus crowns

The deer certainly think I'm growing them to eat...for them to eat, not me. I didn't know they were edible. We have a lot of shady spots in our yard that the hosts a do well in. I'm afraid they're too valuable to snack on, especially since I'm trying to get them to multiply.  Now I wonder, are the flowers edible as well???

I've done a little more Googling - seems that you can eat all of the plant including the plant though its recommended that you eat the first shoots treating them a bit like asparagus.  In Japan its called Urui


Hostas are beautiful and I'd never consider eating the ones in my garden but the ones in the allotment... wel.. I think I'll have a go
