Sweet Potato
« on: February 15, 2015, 19:19 »
Hi All,
I have some sweet potatoes bought back in early December, half submerged in a tub of water which have
sprouted roots, but so far no shoots/slips.
l have been told very kindly by MOS that they probably have been sprayed with an inhibitor.
What l would like to know as they are obviously alive, l know other members have had a similar problems
but did they eventually sprout?
If so approximately how long after the roots emerged?
How many slips did you get?

Thanks in advance.

some of mine put out roots but don't shoot. as long as it's not rotting keep it and hope for the best.

i've had anything from 1 to 7 per sweet pot.

i would try and get more started than you need as i have had very limited success with shop brought seeds.

Thanks 3759allen,
What sort of time length between roots and slips?
Do they appear out of the top half or stem from the roots?
Thanks
