Ours are made anything up to year-before.  more time to "feed" them with alcohol :)

Steamed (for many hours) on the day of first eating

Microwaved for a minute or two on subsequent eatings - slim chance there is any left over though!

Me thinks I.m going to have to have a few practice runs.  Quite fancy the idea of cooking slowly in the oven and warming in the slow cooker.  You.'ve given me several ideas. 

I can.t believe I.'ve got to my late 50's and never done Christmas pudding.  I.'ve made several Christmas cakes every year but never a pud :dry:

They are a lot easier than Christmas cake Sarajane.

Even with the steaming.

A lot have suet in the recipe but I always replace the suet with either grated butter or cream the butter with some of the   sugar.

I make mine whenever I feel like doing them. They keep perfectly well, and continue to mature, in  the freezer. Just allow to thaw, and then microwave for a couple of minutes or so, depending on the size of the pudding, and they are just as good as if you'd just made them.

If your slow cooker isnt in use you can use it making sure theres plenty water in it.
ive made one in my old slow cooker it can simmer away in another room till its needed.

I cooked mine in the slow cooker and heated it up in the microwave.  I don't like it myself by my mum assured me it was lovely.
