my onion sets arrived about 3 weeks ago with my seed order 

every year I struggle to find somewhere cool and dry to store them till planting time which for me is usually end of Feb

they go mouldy if to damp or shoot if to warm so today I planted them in small pots and put them under the car port , they are surprisingly hardy with the cold winter weather

my question is does anyone else plant theirs now or if not how do you store them ?

I'm surprised that they are sending out Spring planting sets already  They don't usually send them til March

As above. Are you sure they are the spring planting variety and not winter/japanese
onion sets that should be in now?

 they are red onions

my order always comes about now as I share the seeds with my father and as he's retired he always puts the order in as soon as he receives the catalogue

That doesn't tell us the variety  - there are some red varieties that are for Autumn planting, which I think you may have

can't remember variety mum so I guess they must be autumn ones
