Yes, I think I can be reasonably optimistic that they will be ok! Not so sure about the blight that is starting to appear on my toms though

Hi Timdunn - I dry mine in the gh every year... I pull them out now'ish, place them on the racks in the gh and bend the leaves downward through the slats.. Leave them for a month to dry off then I cut the tops off and leave them another few weeks then into the garage or shed in potato type bags or just loose on wire mesh racks..

I leave the gh door open in the dry periods and close a bit in the we weather.. My gh is shaded from just after 1-2pm every day so may not get as hot as others.

I grow about 500 each year - loose a few due to general rotting but at the end of the day I am self sufficient.. I do eat loads as green onions when my winter crop has been eaten.. so probably end up with drying and storing about 400 odd.. If they start sprouting I use them first or cut them up and freeze as is without blanching.

That's a lot of onions; and I thought I was bad  ;). I follow the same sort of system but it takes ages for the smell to leave the freezer! Here's a few pics of mine strung up (leaves knotted around the string) or laid out in the greenhouse. No sign of a heat wave (only 14c today), so they should dry nicely.
