I stab a few holes in the skin with a fork or the pointy end of a sharp knife. They still split a bit but taste fantastic.

Plus, I've taken to doing them in a pressure cooker recently. Best potato results I've ever had: super speedy, fantastic flavour and a better texture to my mind than when done in a microwave (but that's only my opinion).
