just received some lovely apple trees and i need some advice regarding planting them.  The problem is that it has constantly rained the last 2 days so  i "heeled" them in the day i got them.  I used mainly compost to do this and covered the area so that it does not get too wet.  Have i done the right thing and should i wait for a bit of dry weather before planting them into their plot?  How long can i leave them healed in for.  Lots of questions i know so would appreciate any advice on any of the above.

Raining itself doesn't matter unless you can't go out in it for whatever reason.
What is important is that your garden is not water logged.

Dig the hole of required size, if there is no water standing in it, you can plant. I would do this as soon as possible.
