My first furtle of the year
« on: June 15, 2014, 13:13 »
I grow a lot of spuds in bins & containers.
I got a lot of pentland jav last year all scabbed and put me off a bit for this year.
So I only decided to only do 3 bins of 1st earlies which are pentland jav.
I have not even watered them much since planting out 9th april.
I would say they had 3 good waterings in that time from me.
And here is todays result,I have to say I am gobsmacked at how well they have grown with very little help from me  :D

I have done 10 bins of 2nd earlies this year,i hope they also come out looking so good  :tongue2:

Oh boy me and hubby are going to enjoy todays sunday roast  :D

I have to ask,Has this season so far been perfect growing weather ?
Even the slugs are not about unlike last year.
I am in south Cambridgeshire.

It has been pretty good so far around here, but we have got plenty of slugs to go with the good growing conditions.  Perhaps they have all moved up north from South Cambridgeshire  >:( :nowink:

I am in south Cambridgeshire.

Considering it's British weather, I can't remember a more perfect early season of weather, after the Winter rain and gales stopped. All we need now is 4 weeks of sun with 3 days of rain  :D Not too much to ask, and the forecast looks half promising on the sun front.
Not too many slugs in my little bit of Devon, although the Swift earlies took a bit of  pasting. Far more so than the other varieties. Still not many cabbage whites like last year and even the black fly have only had a stab at a couple of my February broad beans. A lot more green fly though.

I will also be enjoying my potatoes today. Yours look great.
