I usually grow mine in 3" pots in GH until they are 1ft high then plant them out.  I never get them eaten by then.  How many have you got?  make little cloches with cut down pop bottles?

Just popped down the lottie and it's slug-tastic down there! My beans I planted out a week ago have been got at a bit, loads of sluggy slime trails where the pellets worked, but are just about surviving. All my leeks & onions and root crops have gone despite the pellets   Took 40 off the broad beans alone!  >:(

I've got loads more bean plants at home waiting, but am going to put them out when the damp has passed.  Won't bother with direct sown this year now as the slugs are just way tooooo rampant.

Somebody has posted on here (Can't remember where) apparently it's been a good time for our slimy visitors. I'm guessing the mild winter may be a probable cause.
we also rescue rabbits and guinea pigs, grow own veg
