strawberry runners
« on: June 01, 2014, 17:31 »
My strawberries are getting quite full of fruit. They are new plants lsst Autumn. They have also started to put out a few runners. Should I take these runners off? I'm sure I read somewhere it is a good idea as it puts more effort into the fruit.

On my previous bed I did not bother as they were quite old plants and I wanted the runners for new growth.

Like yours , my plants are having their first fruit this season and yes the runners are to be pulled off to keep the plant and fruit strong. It's their third year you can let the runners grow on and pot up to renew your old plants.
