I've only recently sown my (chitted) cucamelon seeds and after reading this thread, got in a panic ... but May is still time to sow according to some seed suppliers, phew   

I wonder - I can't remember whether I brought this up last year - when i tipped the compost out of the container there were fat fleshy tubers underneath. Do you think if you kept them somewhere moist and frost free over winter they would re-grow the following year?

I did try that last season but they rotted off, despite my efforts. As this year's batch of seedlings is rapidly turning into tangle town, I guess I did not need to worry 

New Shoot, I shall have to harden some off and get them out into the mini tunnel at the plot ... I shall start tomorrow 

Interesting, on the Mr Fothergills site,

They need little care, are drought-tolerant and if the roots are lifted before first frosts they can be stored and replanted for earlier fruiting the following season.

Maybe dry them like you would when lifting up other tubers for winter, and store in sand?

Unfortunately my seeds never came up, and I haven't got around to getting any more... next year though

Trying them for the first time this year - 4 of 6 seeds have germinated. And I had a pleasant surprise yesterday as 2 free plants came through the post from Suttons!
