Same here. I can't get the beetroot to germinate.

I sowed Beetroot on 17th April . . .

2nd May

True leaves by the 14th May

Latest picture 26th May

I use slug pellets to control Slugs and Snails as you can see in the first picture.

Not many root crops have made it, a few beets but that's about it.
Eating loads of broad beans now from the Autumn sowing and a few mange tout & strawbs.

Weird but the early pumpkins and courgette plants I put out on the lottie a couple of weeks ago are not getting eaten at all and are doing really well (last year they were all chomped), brassicas looking good and growing well, but all the roots/onions/radish/leeks/marigolds have gone despite the slug pellets

I have loads of garden grown plants waiting..... waiting.....

Broad beans are looking OK about 5' tall lots of flower, a few dozen pods about 6" but a few weeks before I can pick. Aquadulce planted in oct/nov
Onions looking very poorly, the sets haven't increased in size at all.
Garlic is still single clove, about the size of a cherry. Planted oct/nov
Turnips are looking ok about the size of a tangerine.
Runners are Ok about 18" been planted outside for a week.
Tomatoes very poorly, still only 6" tall, in unheated GH.
Chillies look OK about 8" bushy with flowers just forming
Radish Ok foliage but haven't had a dig
Rocket grew to about 2-3" then stopped
Lettuce grew to about 1" then stopped
Courgettes still inside, very healthy with flowers starting to form.
Cherries, non existent.

That's it........I think I'm just a bad gardener  :(

Is it really supposed to be this cold at this time of year?

About a week ago I thought this year could be one where I got to put the tender stuff outside before the end of May, but having rained every day for a week that's not likely to happen, so the sweet corn, runner beans, courgettes, outdoor cukes, and squashes are still hiding in the GH (mind you, the extraordinary courgettes di Nizza look to be in the mood to fight their way out! )

Parsnips are through if the slugs haven't got them since I last looked, everything else, including the salad 'stuff' is pretty much stalled waiting for something a bit drier, warmer and sunnier (as am I!)  :nowink:
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older
