Nettles as mulch for pots?
« on: May 16, 2014, 16:44 »
Hi
I have a load of nettles near my patch. They look lovely and green. Could I cut some some and use as mulch for my potatoes,or is this a bad idea?
Cheers
Steve

I think it is best to soak them in a bucket of water for a week or two and make a liquid feed. Someone also told me they make a good compost activator , so you could throw some in your compost bin too.

Maybe someone will reply and say they have used them as a mulch before and it worked a treat  :)

Yes you can use them as mulch as long as you don't leave the roots on  ;)
