Tomato problem - panicking!
« on: May 03, 2014, 22:14 »
Hi folks

Can anyone tell me what is happening here please?  Friday morning this plant was perfectly fine.  I went in this morning to find this and I can't figure out what is wrong.  It's at the end of a row in my polytunnel and has been in there for a couple of weeks now.  The rest of the plants are not affected at all.  :(

Thanks for your help.

We had a touch of frost last night, being at the end of the row, (I'm assuming in the corner), it would be the most vulnerable plant. It could be that. Another assumption is that you have no heating!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Thanks DD.  I don't have heating in there and it is in the corner as you said. I was panicking in case it could be early blight and was thinking of turfing the plant up just in case.  Should I give it a few days to see if it picks up or just be done with it and burn it tomorrow with the rest of the stuff we have to burn?

Doubt very much that it's blight, if it is you're the first in the country to get it - there's nothing on the blight maps!  How badly is the rest of the plant affected? I'd give it a few days and it will soon tell you if it's going to get over it.

The rest of the plant looks OK and most of the lower leaves seem to be unaffected.  The main stem looks healthy and the top looks like the rest of them in the row.  I'll keep a close inspection on it and hope it improves.  If not, it's joining the weeds in the incinerator.  ;)

Thanks DD.  :)

It's probably caught a cold which it will hopefully get over in a day or two!
