Egg question
« on: April 19, 2014, 18:28 »
I purchased fresh eggs from a new seller this week, upon opening the yolk was fully mixed with the white and three had rather large blood spots. The whole insides were very watery.

Any advice on this, we did not eat them to be honest they put me off.
It was present in three out if four eggs

the blood spots aren't a problem but I wouldn't be happy having pre scrambled eggs. Watery eggs can be a sign of old age, old eggs or if the living conditions are poor then they can absorb impurities.
I would change suppliers if it was me.
Staffies are softer than you think.

None of the eggs I sell are more than 5 days old, when you put them in the pan, they have bright yellow/orange yolks, with the white (as it cooks) a bright white

Any eggs older than 5 days get recycled, myself and the hens are proud of the quality of their eggs  :)

The eggs are fertile, but as I have a Buff Orpington Cockerel and various other breeds, we dont hatch them  ;)

(be interesting to se what came out though)
