 does anyone know why my cabbage, cauli, and broccoli have suddenly flopped over?
   they  are in the greenhouse and about 2, 3 inches high. they look healthy enough
   but have just keeled over. any thoughs gratefully recieved.

Stick em outside, they dont like heat.

Mine thrive on neglect, my type of plant.

Just hang fire, harden them off first and make sure they haven't pegged it. Don't stick them straight into the soil.

I know that a forum member who has raised brassicas in Africa may have something to say on the matter, but UK brassicas do not like heat and they certainly should not be in a greenhouse at this time of year, even in Scotland.

If they do survive, be prepared for the fact that you may have weak plants that have become accustomed to the warmth.

Just an after thought. Maybe you could expand on your definition of "flopped over". You cay they look healthy, but my definition of "flopped over" involves issues!

dont know how else to describe them really dd. they have four large leafs on a narrow stem, dark green,
  look fine. just as i say flopped over. i,ll take them out tomorrow and start hardening them off. and thanks beetroot queen.

If the stem is bent, but the leaves are still upright, nothing to worry about. The word "floppy" conjures up other thoughts.

If this is the case, harden them off and when you plant them, bury them a little lower.

Next year, don't keep them in the greenhouse so long!

Mine looked the same.....stood them outside my greenhouse  , under netting" and they sprung right back to life, been out for 5 nights now and I will get them planted in the soil this weekend.
