i have grown some winter tares and want to chop it off to dig in.but ive noticed there is no end of ladybirds asleep in it! anyone know when they wake up? i dont want to bury them all and be infested with aphids..

Saw one yesterday, bit sluggish but moving around. Lots of bumble bees now. My plum tree is in full blossom so I'm hoping they have found it.

Hardly saw any ladybirds last year, and hardly any aphids either (probably a chicken and egg thing going on there but I don't know which way round - it'll be interesting to see whether this year is different after such a mild winter.)

We've got quite a few about - both ladybirds and harlequin beetles. I move them into the greenhouse and polytunnel when I find them to hunt out any greenfly overwintered on the lettuces.
