OMG I don't believe you lot, you are not helping

I have to admit to getting 2 more trees today. A James Grieve apple and a Bramley Apple .

I will need to look for plenty of Apple recipes cos we now have 5 apple trees 1 plum 1 cherry 1 pear  numerous  raspberry canes with 2 news one bought this week, 4 black currant bushes 3 Thornless blackberry bushes 1 red currant bush and a partridge in a pair tree.

Snoop you are not helping.  I only logged on to this thread to show OH that others are much worse than I am and now I've had to have a look at these. Just found they are still available http://www.tuckers-countrystores.com/pk-barbara-f1-butternut-squash/?filter_name=barbara at &2.60 for 8 seeds plus £1.25 p&p. Of course if you spend more than £30 then p&p is free but at least I managed to avoid that.

Total bargain in comparison with T&M! Eke them out over a couple of years, they'll last.

Plus, you're quite right about cropping here versus in UK, but I also grew some Avalon in the same bed, and although they did well, they didn't produce as many or such large squash as the Barbara. The texture seems to be the same and tastewise there's not much between them that we can tell.

I've grown Avalon here for 2 years and have found them to be consistently hopeless. Though obviously there is room for much 'user error'.

My swapsies chillies have arrived: alberto's locoto rocoto chilli and facing heaven chilli. Time to tuck them up snug in some warm compost...

I blame the weather. If it was better we'd be too busy to think about more seeds...... perhaps.....

my seed addiction now seems to have shifted to potting compost, read on here about problems with pound land and lidl and have now bought additional Westland from Tesco as it's on offer - I wish they would move it away from the entrance bags jump in the trolley every time I go there

Likewise. I've bought some absolute rubbish recently from a source that used to be good. Won't be buying from them any more. Now have 250 litres of good stuff just sitting waiting for the rain to stop so I can get on with things (no greenhouse, no heated propagator...). The fact that to get this stuff took my partner a round trip of 100 km plus a stop at a supermarket (I hate supermarkets, so he does nearly all the big shops), just proves his devotion!

Who said diamonds are a girl's best friend? I'm quite happy with compost! ::)

On my way to sanity.  Has an allotment social last night.  Took along excess seeds for a swap, but there were none I wanted SO I GAVE THEM AWAY!  Walked away with none.  So proud of me :tongue2:
