flippin gutted
« on: February 27, 2014, 15:08 »
Just found our white silkie dead. Its only just happened as well as I was down there less than an hour earlier.

Absolutly no idea why. She was her normal self. No illness, she laid earlier, no injury.
The only thing that happened in that hour was a huge, sudden hail storm.
And i thought i brought them up to be sturdier than that.
Doesn't bode well for the others, she was the brains of the outfit.

It would have only been her 1st birthday next week.

Quite shocked really, i've never had one die before.

Its horrible when its sudden and only a young chook like that  :(

Could have been a weak heart.  They often show no ill effects but then keel over with no warning.  The hail might have been it, but if they suffer from this, they can just go without any external influence  :(

Oh how horrid!  I am so sorry to here this.  You have my sympathy!
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

They were a bit odd last night. She was always the first one to go in and the rest followed. I think they were awaiting instruction.

No eggs today either but 2 of them are moulting something terrible.

I'm sure normal service will resume soon.
