Gardening Diary 2014
« on: December 27, 2013, 22:49 »
I have been looking for a garden diary for 2014, but can't seem to find what I am looking for. I would like it to be similar to the dairy diary with jobs to do and plenty of room for notes. Any suggestions?

Have you looked for a non-2014 version?

A gardener's almanac or similar?

You can get ones which are re-usable every year, rather than being year-specific.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I just use a hard-backed notebook as I can set things out as I would like rather than having to do it "by the book" as it were.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

I saw it in Waterstones - or Amazon are doing free supersaver delivery.

I use a free one from the internet. It's useful because it produces a diary of dates / actions based only for the vegetables I select. It also produces a crop rotation plan for my chosen veg. Simple to use.

It doesn't have much room for notes when printed off so I cut and pasted it into a notepad document and saved it. I will add notes to that as the year progresses. I live near warwick and the dates in the diary can be adjusted for the weather around the town where you live. If you are interested its here:

That's a very interesting website link, IDDI - not seen it before.

Some caution is needed re. the adjusted dates.  It puts me in zone 4 along with Manchester and thinks my last predicted frost date is the second week of May.  In fact, our last frost date is usually predicted as the end of May.

I use a bog standard diary.
Then use the weather to determine when certain jobs need doing! ;)
