Ever wish you took "before" photos?
« on: November 14, 2013, 16:11 »
My gardener has now done 11 hours in my garden (and I've managed another 3.5), and I really, really wish I'd taken before photos, no matter how embarrassing they would be.

My garden looks so much more open and light (helps by the removal of three overgrown shrubs and many low hanging branches.

Of course this is just the beginning, it's probably going to take months to get into a decent shape, but now I can relax and do the "fun stuff" and let the gardener do all of the boring stuff (like shred the trimmed branches).

It has come to my attention that I appear to be a pot hoarder, and I must have hundreds of pots and containers from 5cm seed pots to 75cm containers - and I haven't even ventured into my veggie garden section yet! (concentrating on the front garden which is visible from the road and neighbour!)

I have plenty of garden pics but - um - just had a tree chappie in to do some real branch choppinig and trimming, so maybe I should have done it. Could be a great morale booster!
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

I take photos of my garden every fortnight (give or take).  I have some specific spots where I stand and "click" so that I can generally compare month-by-month and also this-year to -last-year.  I also photograph anything specific that is in flower etc. and whenever we are in the middle of construction etc (to remind me what date we did it on).

I use the history to remind myself what flowers at the same time as what else, in case I want to move them near to each other - or further apart! and to be a crashing-bore droning on about how the Ask was in leaf before the Oak Blah! Blah! Blah! :)

I always take before pictures, when I moved into my house (and saw what the last occupants left behind, the garden before the work started, chicks hatching out, but they all get lost over time

It took 25 years to actually get the hgouse the way the wife wanted it, now she wants to change it

It takes me months to get the garden the way I want it, it takes the chooks a week to reduce it to a ruin

Still its always something to look forward to getting things back to way they should be, roll on spring time :)
It's all about the journey, not the destination
