Best value seed supplier?
« on: October 09, 2013, 10:40 »
Hi

Putting together a list for purchase for the polytunnel next season.

Any opinions on the best value supplier?  Recently purchased off ebay but would welcome suggestions as to good value suppliers.

TIA

Adri

It depends what you want - cheap seeds or large packs. If you search on the posts there are quite a few threads about seed suppliers. I've got a list of suppliers on my diary that might help your search:

But be warned, I've got slightly obsessed with squashes!

Any opinions on the best value supplier?

Wyevale / The Garden Centre Group - end of season 50p-a-packet sale (usually starts around 01-Sep).  Bit late now, so probably won't be much choice left.

Moles Seeds - www.molesseeds.co.uk - good value if you want large packets.  Free P & P except for Peas, Beans and Green Manure etc.

Usually only a limited range of varieties but Aldi, Wilkinsons, Pound Shops etc. have good value packets

Real Seeds - www.realseeds.co.uk - sell open-polinated varieties with instructions on how to keep your own seed, so that could work out the cheapest!

Reminds me of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe in which was a company that made pumps that never went wrong.  Once everyone in the world had one the company quietly went bust!

Is there still a buying option on John's site?  If so buying via that would (I think?) contribute a commision back to the site :)

Money Saving Expert advertises an offer from Parkes this week - 17 veg packs for 7.50 delivered. Would normally be around £30. You can't choose the varieties but that is pretty cheap.
