Sorry, been bread making and freezing kale and washing and making cheese.

And looking at babies!

So, Full count is five at the moment. Three look line Shumen, 2xmale, 2x female and one is not. Isnot has yellow legs and yellow sides but is still rather wobbly so we will see. At a guess I would say my white legbar cross is it's mum.

Solo showing off her feathers. I laughed at OH when he said she flew yesterday, but she did a good imitation of it today.

Little Itsnot, hope he pulls through.

Solo showing the other three how to adore themselves in the mirror, now removed.

Unfortunately another pipped over night but died. :(

Glad they are all happily mixing tosca.  How are Itsnot and the Shumen chicks getting on?

I'm afraid Isnot didn't make it. :( After discussion with the chap who gave us the layers, it seems that in his area there is a problem with white chicks, they tend to walk on their hocks and eventually have to be culled. He has tried all sorts, including physio, but nothing works. So rather than put it through all the messing about without a good ending, it was culled at four days. Very sad, but as you know these things happen. Was otherwise healthy. Solo is looking weird now, at just over three weeks she looks like some sort of weird pincushion. She is not terribly steady on her feet, but hoping ow they can get out into the fresh air and sunshine where she scratches around to her heart's content, she will strengthen up. She can certainly shift when she wants to! The blues are looking lovely, though it looks as if at least one is a boy. At just over two weeks there is initially not that much difference in size, but Solo has a lot more feather.

The three adults are looking good. So now I expect the hens, being in their second year, will soon be moulting and looking bald again!

If you sit watching them for long enough I am sure you will be able to see them grow.
