sore throat!!
« on: October 01, 2013, 19:03 »
Hi one of my girls has started to sound as though she has a sore throat when she trys to talk. She is healthy and was wormed 3 weeks ago(flubenvet). She has not got any discharge from her nose or eyes eats and drinks normally and runs around with the rest of the girls as normal. They have a hand full of corn as a treat at night and plenty of greens. I did think she might have done it on a sharp piece of corn but not sure. any ideas please Andy 46

You could try putting her in quarantine so you can see what her poo is like and keep a close eye on her for any other symptoms.  The only other thought, is it possibly linked to dust in the coop or off her bedding?  You could try giving her a little bit of honey dissolved in boiled water then cool it and add some crushed garlic.  If it is a scratch that should help the healing process.   ;)

That is good news andy46.  You can also add pureed apple with it (honey, a little water and crushed garlic) as a pick me up for them, it seems in help when they are a bit under the weather and increases their appetite.   :)
