tough celery
« on: August 21, 2013, 12:50 »
My celery is not ready for digging up yet but I tried a stalk this morning and it was really tough even though it was a baby stalk. Has anyone any ideas what I may have done to prevent this.

Mine are tougher than usual this year. I think it is just insufficient water tbh. It is a bog plant after all  :nowink:

I have tried stripping out the strings, but it is hard going, so most will be used as part of a 'vegetable trivet' under roast meat, or minced and added to soups or stews
