squash still in greenhouse......
« on: July 22, 2013, 19:07 »
:unsure:will the 4 squash that didn't get planted out on the allotment grow any fruit?

they are rampant in the greenhouse, look really healthy, clinging onto everything ,so I don't think I can put them outside now,it's way too late and would break many of their stems if I pulled them away from the tom plants I'm sure

is it worth letting them carry on or shall I not waste my time and  remove them.......

also, the squash at the allotment don't have many fruit either, very disappointing, since they are rampant now as well!

what have I done wrong ????

I'd let them carry on in the greenhouse if you can cope with them.

As for flowers, it's been a late season and I've got no flowers on my squash yet.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Thankyou Yorkie....if I can put up with them, you're right, the leaves are so big!!

Many of the squash growing on plants outside, fell off when they were only 2 or 3 inches long.....I couldn't work out why.Like you say, late season, topsy turvy.I'll look forward to next year again :)

I only had one squash plant survive, and with not much space outside to put it, it is in the small greenhouse border.  Took ages to start off, but it is spreading nicely now, although so far only one male flower.

If the squash flowers didn't have a mini squash shape behind them, they were male flowers.

If they did have a mini squash shape behind them, and fell off without the squash growing any bigger, then the flower wasn't pollinated.

This is usual.  However, there have been lots of threads on this on here this year, so I guess it's more of an obvious issue than usual.

My four plants have gone crazy little squashes just appearing now (about the size of a penny).
