I've just been out to inspect the tayberries and the bush is alive with what appear to be small/young wasps. So much so I daren't try to pick any. Not too unusual, but these wasps seem to be actually eating the berries. Any comments?

I think wasps are attracted to anything sweet this time of year for their last sugar hit before their demise.

When I was young, we used to do this to trap wasps.

Take an old jam jar (1lb or 2lb).
If there was a still a scraping of jam left, then fine.
If not put in a teaspoon of any jam you don't care about too much.

Fill about one third full with water and give a swirl.

If you've got a metal lid, make a hole about half an inch in diameter in the centre of it, and put on the jar.
If you've not got a metal lid, use brown paper and string or a rubber band to make a lid, and then make the hole in that.

Place near fruit tree, but not too close.

Leave till autumn.

Remove lid; pour contents onto compost heap.

I've got a shop bought trap (which I've just put out in the bush). When I went down to get some tayberries off to put in the trap, there was nos sign of any wasps, but as soon as I started to move the bush, it came alive and there were masses of them.

These wasps aren't on their last legs, they are very young. I think there must be a nest nearby, if not in the bush itself. I really need to sort this out before it gets out of hand. Any possible solutions would be greatly appreciated.
