morning all.when my potatoes are out  (wont be long now )i want to plant cabbage caulis brocalli in its place,,should i put some horse manure on dig it it then some lime ,or just lime it,,also when to plant them out,,right now there in trays about an inch tall  ty  mick

All the advice I`ve ever heard says not to lime and manure at the same time - some reaction or other prevents both from having the required effect.

I would do a soil test to actually see if your soil requires liming at all and take it from there.

I usually plant my brassicas out when they have 4 or 5 true leaves.  I grow them from seed in 3 inch pots - you may want to prick yours out into pots or a nursery bed fairly soon, if they are in a tray.

I would trench the manure dib the hole for the cabbage lime the hole plant and puddle them in.

Mine go out with four to five leaves. They will be going out today. hubby has been told, i asked nicely and got ignored NOW he knows what i want.

I wont be manuring before hand as my deivery has been delayed again.

I think you might be right with timings, i think i am just too early.

Thank god. Didnt want it all going to seed. Cauli's have started to open now and broccoli has gone already
