Hi all
a colleague at work was regaling me with a tale about her 3 hanging baskets. She says she bought all the items separately - fuschia, lobelia, etc, all the usual stuff  - which all when small were pink,purple, yellow, etc. Now, although large and healthy, everything is WHITE.

So what could have happened? Could she have picked up all white stuff (which is coloured when young) or is there some set of circumstances which can remove colour from a group of different plants in the same baskets?

Ammonia can cause flowers, particularly those in the pink area of the spectrum, to lose colour. Has your friend been spray cleaning something - like perhaps outdoor furniture or a patio or deck - too thoroughly near the hanging baskets?

given there is no damage, and the plants are otherwise robust, I think she has simply picked up white plants! When the buds are emerging, there can be elements of colour, which are not apparent in the mature bloom.

I cannot see another explanation

I love the sound of an all white collection. I bet it looks really good ...and stylish.

I have some Belmont/Boughton blue viola in a rockery and they re-seed like mad. This year I was delighted to find some of these new plants had mutated/reverted or whatever,  to white.  I love them
