Went down to the lottie this a.m. to see my neighbour pulling leaves off his swedes. Asked him why and he said it helps them grow. I have heard about doing this on celeriac but not on swedes, any helpfull comments please.

I think swede need all the help they can get to get fat, so I leave them to get as big as they like

I agree with mumofstig. We've been very successful with swedes and, apart from thinning them, we have always just let them get on with it. I've never heard of pulling leaves off swedes to help them grow.

There's certinaly no harm in asking. Someone may suggest a perfectly valid and legitimate reason as to why you should pull leaves off swedes. As you say in this case I'd have learnt something new too
