Identify our tree?
« on: June 30, 2013, 20:01 »
Can anyone help me identify our tree?

We think it might be an ash, and if so are watching cautiously in case it might have the ash dieback problem.  It only blossomed recently.

The leaves seemed to start as. Reddish brown colour and I think you might be able to see some of these left at the ends of a couple of the stems shown in one of the pics.

If other photos are needed let me know and let me know what of.

Are the leaves going from reddish brown to green normal?

Will have to keep an eye on it in that case.  I don't think there have been any reported cases of the ash dieback in our area judging by the website for it so I guess we may be lucky?

That is unlikely , it will probably sweep the country like dutch elm did 35 years ago ! But what you will need to watch if you decide to fell it is that ash is a brittle wood and can go in directions other than the planned one so if you are not experienced at felling trees do get someone who is :)
