Guess the Breed?????
« on: June 26, 2013, 20:09 »
This is Hilda, one of the chickens I rescued a couple of weeks ago. She is about 20 weeks old and massive!!!  Her legs are huge and she is almost as big as my Welsummer cockerel. The guy I rescued her from didn't know what she was.   Any ideas????

You might be right GA as the comb and wattles don't look like a Shamo.

Shamo legs are generally yellow aren't they?  But it definitely looks like its crossed with a game bird with that upright stance!

They are the feathers at the rear end above the tail feathers.  Cockerels have pointy feathers around their neck and saddle area.  You can see them on this picture of my cockerel.

mmmm.. well I am hoping Hilda is a Hilda and not a Harry, otherwise she/he will have to go.  I noticed Thatcher showing some interest but that might not be for treading.....
