I have inherited an existing mint plant growing in the ground. The problem is the mint flavour is barely detectable. I've had look around the Internet and there is a possibility that cross pollination at some stage has caused this. Before I get rid of it does anyone else have another suggestion?

I would start again. I just could not be without a decent mint, I have bundle mint and lots of it.

Mint is so easy to grow that I too would not bother trying to rescue one that I didn't like the flavour of. Most gardeners have mint, I would try and find a neighbour who will let you try theirs for flavour and then give you a root. It will establish in no time.

Yes I agree. I have actually planted another which I am now harvesting but I do like bundles of it. I think you are right I will just get rid of the old one. I also have a basil mint which I am not sure what to use it for as I am used to mint sauce etc with the traditional peppermint.
