Do you put the tin lid on?  If you do, how do they grow, if you don't how do you keep the slugs out?

well my spuds in tyres worked well - although 1 got blight  :?

smaller yields - but very tasty - and i've still got quite a few going  8)

will defo do more next year  :wink:

I've got a few tins of spuds in sand in the garage, I'm keeping them for sowing. First time I've done it, we'll see what they are like.

If they are OK, I shall repack them into cardboard boxes in a couple of week's time. I usually plant a first lot very early, sometime in March.( For around here, anyway)

yeh - i do mine a bit earlier - weather permitting - first lot mid to late feb - but i am very good - i always use protection  8)

I've never grown spuds before, so am eagerly awaiting my freebies, would also like to try sante, so am hoping fonthill garden centre will have a good selection, next door and my dad always swore by aaran pilot.
