Slug problem...
« on: June 15, 2013, 14:08 »
We planted some young broccoli and cauliflower in our allotment and put down some slug pellets. We went along today and they have been completely eaten leaving just the stems. The seem to have not even touched the slug pellets and looking at our next door neighbours they don't seem to have this problem. Have we attached the slugs with the pellets? What can we do to prevent this with the rest of our crops we want to plant?

Are you sure it was slugs?

Could have been birds, they are a nightmare with us.

If they weren't netted it would be pigeon damage  >:(

Try putting down grit around the stems and works with mine, slugs don't go over sharp surfaces. Might be other things like birds, caterpillars, rats, mice, moles.
Kind Regards

Could be rabbits, which are endemic on my plot. I cover everything other than spuds, squashes, garlic and fruit bushes against rabbits, but before we got deer fencing I had to cover the garlic against the deer.
I was put on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things; right now I am so far behind I will never die.
