Asparagus from seed - plant size?
« on: June 01, 2013, 08:05 »
I've germinated a whole load of Asparagus plants which are currently sitting in 3" pots growing slowly (just throwing up a second tiny spear). I'm just wondering what sort of size they will get to this year and whether I'll need to plant them out before winter into final positions or would it be better to put them into a nursery bed and transplant at two years old. I've got the space as I've just got a new allotment, although is does need preparing, any good tips for what asparagus would like? It's currently been weedkilled and is all going yellow.

put them in larger pot's and wait till next spring. Start preparing your asparagus bed so they will be nice and cosy when you plant them.
