Trafalgar Spouts Germination
« on: May 29, 2013, 16:57 »
Hi about 9 days ago I sowed 20 Trafalgar Spouts seeds outdoors each seed in its own 3 inch pot. So far nothing has shown. How long does Trafalgar Spouts take to germinate does anyone know?

Thanks FB

I would expect at least some of them to be up.  Where have you got them?
I planted a lot of brasicas 9 days ago, they were in the greenhouse and now they are outside, almost all are up.

Seeds have been a nightmare this year, tomatos have taken neary 4 weeks to start!!! Can you cover the pots with anything, seethrough platic bag?

Im growing Trafalgar and I cant recall how long they took to come up, but it wasn't overly long.i sowed 1 seed in to 3" pots.  I had 100% germination. however when they did germinate, the seedlings looked absolute rubbish, so bad that I made a second sowing...both sowings are now superb plants..first lot out, 2nd sowing going out next week..even had enough to make up a tray of plants for the charity plant table....

My Trafalgar were very slow to germinate & very patchy when they did.
I have about 8 plants from 4 sowings.  Later was better this year even this far South.
First sowing on March 9th poor, April 26th better.
Sometimes it is better to keep your mouth shut and be suspected of knowing nothing than opening it and proving it.
